1. THE ANCIENT BENGAWAN SOLO ( SULING LAKE )
this is located in songbanyu, and pucung village, girisubo distric which is 50km away from wonosari, suling lake is valley near sadebg beach ( the furthest east beach ) from the beaches line extending in south area of gunung kidul regency. suling lake is believed as ancient bengawan solo estuary with a beautiful scenery and coolness because it is surrounded by green hill, it is very suitable for tracking or tourism exploration activities.
on the way to sadeng beach we can enjoy the scenery on a few hundred meters of the ancient bengawan solo river flow. the former river flow is nom in the form of low land surrounded by high hill. the low land now becomes crops field as far as 7km to the north until pracimantoro area in wonogiri regency.
it is believed that milions of year ago, bengawan solo's estuary was on sadeng beach. because a plate tectonicactivity caused java iskand uplift, the river flow was transferrrrrrred to the north and the former path dries, which now becomes a valley near sadeng beach and people call it suling lake with beautiful scenery cool air.
2. KARST AREA LANDSCAPE ( GUNUNG SEWU )
gunung kidul regency is one of the region in indonesia, which has karsts area, gunung kidul karsts area is one the segments from gunung sewu karsts area, which landscape covers 3 regency. pacitan regency in east java, gunung kidul regency in special province jogjakarta, and wonogiri regency in central java. gunung kidul karst area cover 10 sub district area which area, purwosari, panggfang, saptosari, paliyan, tanjung sari, tepus, girisubo, rongkop, south semanu, south pojong and south wonosari sub district.
gunung kidul karsts area covers 13.000km2 areas, it is very unique and has upon surface phenomenon ( eco-karsts ) and beyond surface phenomenon ( endo-karsts), the upon surface phenomenon includes positive shape such as karsts mountainous area, which has 40.000 conical hills, while the negative shape is in the form of karsts valley and lakes. beyond surface,phenomenon includes karsts caves with stalactites and stalagmites and all undergroud rivers.
becouse of its unique ecosystem, in 1993 international union of speleology propose to register gunung sewu karst area to one of the world nature heritance, on dec 6th 2004 the president susilo bambang yudhoyono in gunung kidul regency proclaimed gunung sewu karsts area and south gombong as eco karst area.
gunung sewu karst area included caves (119 caves), with stalactites and stalagmites, underground rivers, lakes, lime stone, white sand beach surrounded by hill, etc
